Commissioners

The Lee County Mosquito Control District board is comprised of seven commissioners representing seven areas. The areas are divided to have an equal share of the population. Commissioners are elected, at large, in the General Election, by qualified electors residing within the District. This is a 4-year term, non-partisan office. If there should be a vacancy on the board, it would be filled by appointment, by the Governor, for the remainder of the unexpired term.

Commissioners are compensated $400 per month for serving on the Board. The compensation is set by Florida Statue 388.141. The Board has chosen not to authorize a higher amount through special act or local application as allowed in F. S. 388.141. The Board serves as Commissioners for the Lee County Mosquito Control District and the Lee County Hyacinth Control District, but are only compensated as serving on the Lee County Mosquito Control District Board in compliance with F.S. 388.141.

Commissioner Boundaries

Area 1

Area 1 encompasses Lehigh Acres, Buckingham, Olga south of the river, Riverdale, Gateway, Penzance, Wildcat Run, Florida Gulf Coast University, and everything east of I-75. The approximate outline of Area 1 starts with a northern boundary of the Charlotte-Lee County line, a western boundary of everything east of the Telegraph Creek and south of the Caloosahatchee River to I-75 south to the southern boundary of the Lee-Collier County line. It also includes a section east of 6 Mile Cypress from Colonial Boulevard to Daniels Road.

Area 2

Area 2 encompasses Eagle Ridge, Briarcliff, Three Oaks, Bonita Beach, Coconut Road, and parts of Bonita. The approximate outline of Area 1 starts with a northern boundary of Daniels Parkway, the eastern boundary is I-75, the western boundary is south Cleveland Avenue and the southern boundary is the Lee-Collier County line. Area 2 also includes a portion east of the Seaboard Coastline area, south of Gladiolus, North of Alico and west of the main Seaboard Coastline railroad tracks.

Area 3

Area 3 encompasses Boca Grande, Captiva, Sanibel, Pine Island, and west Cape Coral. The approximate outline of Area 3 covers all of the barrier islands and the western Cape Coral boundary starting from the Charlotte-Lee County line with everything west of US 41 to Wilmington Parkway until Nelson Louise Boulevard, then west of Nicholas Parkway to Country Club Boulevard until Veteran’s Parkway, and then from Veteran’s Parkway everything west of SE 1st Avenue to Pelican Boulevard to SW 4th Place to the Caloosahatchee River.

Area 4

Area 4 encompasses North Fort Myers and north east Cape Coral. The approximate outline of Area 4 starts with a northern boundary of the Charlotte-Lee County line, the eastern boundary is Telegraph Creek and the Caloosahatchee River, the western boundary abuts Area 3 with everything east of US 41 to Wilmington Parkway, to Nelson Louise Boulevard to Nicholas Parkway to Viscaya Parkway to Del Prado Boulevard to Skyline Drive and the southern boundary is the Caloosahatchee River

Area 5

Area 5 encompasses the general area of the City of Fort Myers. The approximate outline of Area 5 covers everything west of I-75 from the Caloosahatchee River to Colonial Boulevard and everything east of US 41 from Colonial Boulevard to Boy Scout Road and cutting east/west across Summerlin, and McGregor Boulevard to the Caloosahatchee River.

Area 6

Area 6 encompasses the general area of South Fort Myers outside of the City of Fort Myers. The approximate outline of Area 6 starts with a northern boundary of Colonial Boulevard, the eastern boundary is Six Mile Cypress to Daniels Parkway and going west along Daniels Parkway to US 41, the western boundary is San Carlos Boulevard and the Caloosahatchee River, and the southern boundary is the Estero River.

Area 7

Area 7 encompasses the general area of eastern Cape Coral and Iona. The outline of Area 6 in Cape Coral starts with a northern boundary of area 4, the eastern boundary is Six Mile Cypress to Daniels Parkway and going west along Daniels Parkway to US 41, the western boundary is Pop Ash Court to Randag Drive to Skyline Drive which merges into Hancock Bridge Parkway to Viscaya Parkway which turns into Country Club Boulevard going right to Retunda Parkway West then follow the San Carlos Canal system to Pelican Boulevard to Rose Garden Road to the Caloosahatchee River, and the southern boundary is the Estero River.
